Father-Daughter Wedding Song Suggestions With Lyrics

We put together a list for a meeting with a bride yesterday, so I thought I’d refine it post it. I’d been meaning to do such a post for a while anyway. I made a point to leave out some of the songs that you’ve seen on all the other lists and tried to include some more obscure choices.

I included links to the lyrics because face it, “Daughters” by John Mayer might seem like a good song to dance with your father to, but when you really read the lyrics, you might think twice. More song lists to come!

Because You Loved Me – Celine Dion
Can You Feel the Love Tonight – Elton John
Daddy’s Little Girl – Michael Bolton
Do I Make You Proud – Taylor Hicks

Lullabye - Billy Joel
My Father’s Eyes – Amy Grant

ive been looking for a rock type or better classic rock father/daughter dance song but i just found this song that is quite catchy and non cheesy and good. its called Daughter by Loudon Wainwright III but still trying to find a classic rock song for us since my dad loves his classic.

Thanks Kris! Loudon’s “Daughter” was actually on this list, but I deleted it because it was so…different. But this is why client comments are so great; people have such varied tastes!

Another great one that many don’t know about is ‘Your Joy’ by Chrisette Michelle. A very beautiful tune that anyone would enjoy…

Father Daughter Wedding Songs like “A Song for My Daughter” by Ray Allaire or Mikki Viereck might also be a good selection.

I would definitely include the song “Daddy Don’t Let Go” by Out of Ether. I danced with my Dad to that song at my wedding. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. LOVE this song!!

This is a great list of songs. I am excited to share some of these ideas with my brides. Hopefully we can move away from playing “I loved her first” every weekend.

Love the variety you have in the list above. I would of never thought about Sheryl Crow’s version of Sweet Child o Mine. All the best!

I am a dj from Houston and about half of the brides we talk to want to stray away from the traditional songs and make their wedding uniquely their own. Most of these brides think they are alone but the truth is the uncommon is becoming the norm. Check out the list of songs real brides have asked us to play at their wedding on our website http://djrobinfo.com/Nontraditional_Wedding_Musi.html

What about ‘Heartland – I Loved Her First’? It seems to be very popular without tipping the scales of cliche. Very good list guys!
